Lives and Works in Bay Area, California.
Ana Maria Hoffman was born in San Salvador, El Salvador in 1985 in the midst of a civil war. Living her first seven years in such a hostile environment, Ana Maria found solace in art.
Her work primarily explores the divine feminine. She is also heavily influenced by the ever evolving spirit of nature; the organic, the perfection of the imperfect.
Layers of color and textures are at the center of her work. This allows her to connect and to build a dialogue between her and the materials. She allows the work to guide her so that the materials can speak for themselves. Being self taught, one of her guiding principles is to unlearn what she never really learned.
Working with her hands, found materials, and other non traditional tools allow her to be spontaneous, to add layers, and to capture her spirit in real time.
Her body of work should be perceived as an ongoing meditative dialogue that speaks to her personal journey.
